We are a small, dedicated group of Boston Terrier-loving volunteers based in North Texas who stay busy rescuing, training, transporting, vetting, coordinating and fundraising.  All for the love of our chosen breed, the Boston Terrier.

All Bostons that come into ABTR are fully vetted, heartworm checked, spayed/neutered and **temperament tested to ensure a good fit into a new home.  We never turn away a Boston in need.

ALL Bostons deserve a loving home.  We accept all Bostons, regardless of age or health.
(We will not accept dogs that exhibit human aggression.)

Please note that the adoption process begins with an adoption application.  Incomplete apps will not be considered.

We are not a shelter and do not have visiting hours.  All our Bostons are fostered in loving private homes.

All adoptions require an adoption fee.

Payment options include cash, money order, cashiers check or paypal.

ABTR is a 501(c)3 non-profit rescue organization.  All fees and donations are applied to Boston Terriers in need.

ABTR Bostons Looking for Forever Homes

Hundreds of wonderful dogs have found forever homes through American Boston Terrier Rescue. We have set up two pages to feature and honor some of these dogs. The first page, New Beginnings and Happy Endings, highlights several of our happy adoptions. The second page was specifically created to highlight our Senior Adoptees and their gracious families.

***We do not use Sue Sternberg's Assess-A-Pet or any other extreme temperament tests on our dogs.

If we employed Assess-a-Pet methods to test Boston Terriers – a breed which is usually highly stressed in a shelter environment – many of them would have been killed.  They would not be deemed worth saving and certainly not placed with loving families.  That is where rescue comes into the equation.  We take them out of the stressful shelter environment, place them into a foster home and then see how they unwind.  After a few days of adjustment, we begin to see their true temperaments while they interact with a family and other pets.  Remember - to a lost or surrendered pet, even the best shelters are full of loud noises, odd smells, strangers and fear.  For those and many other reasons, so many of our dogs would have been killed for being too timid, too food aggressive from starvation, too fear aggressive, too hyperactive, etc. and they would not have become the beloved dogs they are today.  We absolutely do not employ, nor do we recommend this type of temperament testing.
